Let me paint you a picture. Seeds, everywhere. Seeds in mason jars, in tupperware, in old pill bottles and old jelly jars. Seeds drying on paper towels, seeds waiting to be processed in cookie sheets. The ambition of homesteading and self-sufficiency has thrown up all over my house. And I couldn’t be happier. My poor husband has been oh so patient as I figure it out.
Having passion is a gift, and pursuing that passion will look messy. Since I found passion for myself, you better believe I am flaming that fire! Ambition and passion have become integral parts in my day to day life. It just makes everything better.
As a parent, I have come to realize finding joy in everyday things is the key to sanity. For me, this is making Pinterest boards for inspiration and motivation, as well as cutting the flowers I grow in my garden to make tiny bouquets for myself. Seeing the bright orange and yellow blossoms while smelling the ever so fragrant rosemary leaves is quite a joy for me.
And, as I mentioned earlier, learning the art of modern day homesteading is a big part of that joy as well. Joy is a good stepping stone into fulfillment and contentment.
This world moves fast and often leaves people feeling less than or in need. Though there are legitimate needs and I don’t suggest neglecting them, the feeling of not having enough can be deceptive. So in the journey of life, it is worth slowing down, taking a breather, and finding what fills your bucket. The world can wait a minute for the sake of your health and wellness.
So here is my question to you: What is your passion?
Now, if this seems like a daunting question, no worries. When I first went on this journey to find what I am passionate about, it started very small. But to some this may seem silly since passion is not necessarily quiet. To you I say congratulations! Take that beautiful gift and create something with it. For me, I looked around listening to my thoughts while learning physical signs of interest.
It took a bit for me to recognize what I genuinely liked. Noticing my body relaxing while being outdoors, I started going outside. When I started thinking about how pretty flowers were I took note. Here I was being attracted to nature, so I changed things that allowed me to experience more of it. For you, I encourage you to look at your cues. Your body tells you when it enjoys something or when it is having issues. For example, when your chest tightens or your stomach twists, even just slightly, it is telling you there is an issue. When you can breathe deep and your muscles are relaxed, those are signs you feel safe. Disclaimer, some body cues may be altered due to related trauma or familiarity. Just take one step at a time and grow your emotional and physical awareness.
This process is actually very simple. In the words of Marie Kondo, what sparks joy? For you it may be a clean kitchen packed with your favorite cookware, or a gym full of the best equipment, maybe a library stocked in classic literature. Whatever it is, I urge you to pursue it. You never know what can happen when you give yourself the space to be great.
Anywho, I hope you all find your passion.
Take care,
Jacqueline Marie
