I get stuck in a battle of, “how do I make it all work?” But when I take a step back and I look at it from a different perspective, I think it’s actually not that difficult. You are allowed to take action without curating perfect results.
I do this thing where something that can be super simple with low commitment becomes something so big it has to be this huge decision. Don’t get me wrong, thinking about your actions thoroughly is a good thing. It’s even a part of my core values and is necessary when practicing mindfulness. But sometimes, things can really be as simple as they seem.
I feel it's so hard to just try something without signing your life away to it. Many people are raised into the mindset, “If I am going to spend the (time/money/energy/resources) then I need to commit every part of me to it.” But, you don't have to live this way. Give yourself the freedom to explore. Let the world be your playground and allow your resources to be an avenue. Don’t get swept up in the severity of life. Because frankly, it isn’t that serious.
If everything I did had to be perfect, I would never try new things. I would never find out I love to paint by pursuing art, or that I love psychedelic rock by my “new music mondays’ challenge, or discover my love of bread making by experimenting in the kitchen. I would be missing out on the simple enjoyments of life. Nothing lasts forever and my view is that opportunities come every single day to do something different, something new.
So, allow yourself to be a kid in this world. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve been doing something. If your life isn’t being lived in a way you feel is fulfilling, it’s never too late to explore. I give you the freedom to express hidden desires and a path to explore new beginnings, and I hope you give yourself the freedom too.
Take care,
Jacqueline Marie
